WALK WITH ME

I want Jesus to walk with me.

I want Jesus to walk with me.

All along my pilgrimís journey

I need to know that You are with me

Jesus, come walk with me.

In my trials, come walk with me.

In my trials, come walk with me.

When the shades of life are falliní,

And the darkness comes a-calliní

Jesus, come walk with me.

Walked with my mother, Heíll walk with me.

Walked with my father, Heíll walk with me.

All along my pilgrimís journey

I need to know that You are with me

Jesus, come walk with me.

A couple of years ago I read a book by Pastor Tony Evans called ďLetís Get to Know One AnotherĒ, and it included the text of an old Negro Spiritual, which is where the lyrics to this song come from.

I had also wanted to write a blues-form song, and these lyrics very well fit that form. Granted, when all was said and done this is not a traditional 12-bar blues, but 16 bars with a twist, but the idea and general feeling is still there.

This is the only song where I included the live track from the CD as the downloadable demo, because without the instrumental solos, any other recording just fell short. Special thanks to my Pastorís wife for adding truly soulful backing vocals to this track.
